This year’s Lower Precinct Charity Partner has now been announced and is none other than The Air Ambulance Service. Backed by almost 50% of voters in an online poll, the chosen charity will have the next year to make the most of the partnership, which officially started on 1 October.

The Air Ambulance Service is based in Princethorpe and provides doctors and critical care paramedics to the public using rapid response vehicles and helicopters, running Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and its sister service Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance. In addition to this, it is also home to the nation’s Children’s Air Ambulance, which is operated across the entire country from its Coventry base. The cause is run by full-time staff, part-time staff, and volunteers, with a team totaling 220 people.

Commenting on the new partnership, Nicola Cormell, Centre Manager at Lower Precinct, said:

“I know that I speak on behalf of all of us at Lower Precinct when I congratulate The Air Ambulance Service and say that we cannot wait to work with them over the coming year. The support from our shoppers for The Air Ambulance Service was phenomenal and I’m proud that as a centre we can help the charities that mean so much to our customers.

“Over the next year, we will be working alongside the Air Ambulance Service to draw up an extensive plan for promotion and fundraising, to make as much money as possible for this worthy cause. The hardworking team will be hosting their own events as well as adding to ours, and will regularly be seen in the centre. The work that the Air Ambulance Service does is incredibly worthwhile and we are delighted to be working with them.”

The Air Ambulance Service will appear regularly at Lower Precinct, including during the busy Christmas season, in the hope of raising awareness and funds for the

Jo Payne, the Senior Fundraising Manager for the Warwickshire branch of The Air Ambulance Service, said:

“We are so proud to be Lower Precinct’s Charity Partner for 2016/17 and we are raring to get started! Last year, we completed 25,000 missions and this would not have been possible were it not for the generous support that the public has given us. We want to ensure that we can continue to be there in people’s times of need but in order to do this, we need to keep raising money. That is why this opportunity is so important to all of us and why we are so thankful for the public’s votes! We are confident that with the help of Lower Precinct and its incredible customers, we can make this year better than ever!”

As Coventry’s premier shopping destination, Lower Precinct remains dedicated to giving back to the community, through its own events and retailer activity. Myton Hospice has just completed its partnership with the centre, raising over £1,700. This money will go towards meeting the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families with the highest standard of treatment and support in palliative care.

Over the coming months, details of how to meet The Air Ambulance Service team and get involved in fundraising will be announced on the Lower Precinct website:
